To ensure the profitable and effective management of the day-to-day running of the service; making certain that all children attending receive optimal care at all times, with a focus on a safe and secure environment delivered through a planned, well balanced programme of activities.

Play Worker -various locations

Purpose of Position

To assist with the effective management of the day-to-day running of the Sherpa Kids Programme; making certain that all children attending receive optimal care at all times, with a focus on a safe and secure environment delivered through a structured, well balanced programme.

 

Key Accountabilities

Daily Operations – Accountability and Expected Target
  • Wear the Sherpa Kids uniform and name tag (where provided) at all times
  • Implement and maintain Sherpa Kids daily routine according to all operating procedures, standards, guidelines and policies
  • Supervise and assist children in programme activities e.g. art and craft, sport, games, offsite visits and excursion
  • Help to set up the club for the day’s activities and to tidy away after the children have left
  • Aid in the preparation of a daily snack and in the tidy-up after
  • Take on Key Worker status for specific children in the Early Year age bracket and help plan and report on their development along the 7 areas outlined in the EYFS
  • Ensure the working environment is kept clean, tidy, hygienic and safe for all children, staff, parents and visitors to the Programme at all times
  • Maintain the approved Sherpa Kids behaviour management operating standards and systems at all times
  • Keep all information regarding the children and parents confidential at all times, allowing access only to duly authorised people and staff at all times
  • Liaise with Programme Manager, parents and guardians as necessary to ensure open and timely communication
  • Assist the Programme Manager as required to run the daily routine as scheduled as per duties outlined on the task list.
  • Attend all meetings as required by management and maintain regular contact with the Programme Manager
  • Sign in and out on days rostered to work as per operating procedures
  • Report back to the Programme Manager with any concerns regarding a child or behaviour issues or other concerns.

Breakfast and After School Club Manager

Purpose of Position

To ensure the profitable and effective management of the day-to-day running of Sherpa Kids services located at Yaxley, Peterborough; ensuring all children attending receive optimal care at all times, with a focus on a safe and secure environment delivered through a planned, well balanced programme of activities.

 

Person specification – Essential qualities/Experience needed:

  • Working with 4 to 11-year old children
  • Customers and/or parent liaison/service
  • Working in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Ability to use IT based resources to support play/club admin.
  • Delivering equal opportunities in a play setting
  • Understanding the varied needs of children and families
  • Appropriate Level 3 or above qualifications in childcare and safeguarding
  • Appropriate child protection training

Daily Operations

  • Take bookings from parents and ensure that the appropriate staffing levels are in place.
  • Wear the Sherpa Kids uniform and name tag (where provided) at all times
  • Implement Sherpa Kids daily routine according to all documented operating procedures, standards, guidelines and policies
  • Plan weekly themes and activities and report on the outcomes
  • Ensure the daily programme runs as scheduled with the support of the Programme Assistants; brief the Programme Assistants regarding tasks and activities, making sure that staff are suitably qualified and experienced to perform the tasks and activities.
  • Arrive in advance of the sessions to prepare activities, co-ordinate Programme Assistants and layout appropriate resources and prepare snack.
  • Responsible for the safe keeping of all resources and equipment for daily programme sessions.
  • Supervise and assist children in programme activities e.g. art and craft, sport, games,
  • Ensure risk assessments and emergency drills are undertaken where necessary.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with parents, Deputy Programme Managers, Programme Assistants, school office, Head Teacher and children who are connected to the Sherpa Kids Programme.
  • Record details of all children attending the sessions and note any absences according to the documented operating procedures. Contact parents where necessary.
  • Ensure Key Worker system is in place for Reception Class children and that staff are fulfilling responsibilities and maintaining written records.
  • At all times, ensure the working environment is kept clean, tidy, hygienic and safe for all children, staff, parents and visitors to the service.
  • Maintain the documented Sherpa Kids behaviour management operating standards and systems at all times.
  • Keep all information regarding the children and parents confidential (securely and locked away) at all times, allowing access only to duly authorised people and staff at all times.
  • Address any issues, concerns or complaints immediately and advise Managing Director in order to provide a suitable resolution, informing all relevant parties of the outcomes.
  • Host weekly staff meeting to plan activities and ensure staff maintain knowledge of key policies and procedures.
  • Arrange regular 1-1 meetings and Staff Observations with all your team
  • Attend all meetings as required by management and maintain regular contact with the Managing Director or Head Office Management as required.
  • Ensure all staff sign in and out on days rostered to work as per documented operating procedures.
  • Maintain the staff to children ratios at all times for all relevant activities – advise MD or HO Management in advance of short falls
  • Ensure the safety of all children in the care of the Sherpa Kids Programme in accordance with the documented operating procedures, standards, guidelines and policies.
  • Ensure that at the start of each week roll sheet, and other documents required on a daily basis such as work reports, timesheets, hazard logs, and safety checklist, petty cash sheets are printed and available onsite.

 

Site Operations and/or Administration

  • Promote benefits of our Sherpa Kids service to school staff, parents, children.
  • Accurately record petty cash flow, keep all receipts and report expenditure.
  • Develop, organise and implement activities and programs with support of Managing Director.
  • Ensure resources are collected and stored as necessary.
  • Notify Managing Director when further resources or funds are required.
  • Complete and submit all forms, books, reports and time records on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure the security of all school buildings used.
